Municipal Council of Kalba

Kalba Municipality together with the Municipal Council of Kalba (MCK) were formed under Law NO. (2) Of 2004 as amended by Law NO.(1) of the 2005 concerning the municipalities in the Emirate of Sharjah.

 Article (17) of the law referred to in the preceding clause stipulates the terms of reference of the Municipal Councils in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Municipal Council Committees:

His Highness Sheikh, Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council, issued the bylaw of the Executive Council Resolution No. (33) of 2005, concerning the establishment of Municipal Councils in the Emirate of Sharjah. The implementing bylaw establishes seven committees that shall be affiliated to the Municipal Councils; they are as follows: 

1. Planning and Development Committee.

2. Committee On Offences Against Health Services and Enviromnetal Protection.

3. Traffic, Port and Public Utilities Committee.

4. Committee for Fianacial and Administartive Affairs.

5. Committee for Arbitration, Dispute Settlement and Complaints and Recommendations.

6. The Social Networking Committee.

7. The Compensation and the Public housing Committe.


Municipal Board:

According to Article (97) of the Executive Council Resolution NO.(33) of 2005 on the Executive Bylaw concerning the municipal councils in the Emirate of Sharjah, each municipal council under this article shall have a municipal board headed by the chariman of the municpal council.

The Article stipulates the following terms of reference of the Board:

  1. Discuss common topics for all the concerned councils and municipalities, and coordinate their efforts with one another in terms of services and the financial and adminstrative affairs;
  2. Study the suggestions and topics before being presented for discussion at the General assembly;
  3. Give opinion on reaserch and studies relating to the financial and adminstartive development, enhancing the quality of job performance and the services offered by the councils and the municipalities;
  4. View and discuss the legislation and the bylaws the Ruler of Sharjah or the Executive Council refers to the Board;
  5. Study and give opinion on local projects with common interests before being submitted to the Executive Council;
  6. In accordance with the Article (101), the Board  shall propose amendments to this bylaw and submit them to the Executive Council;
  7. Follow any other terms of reference stipulated by the law or this bylaw;
  8. Perform any other duties that the Ruler of Sharjah or the Executive Council refers to the Board.
